7 months later and I still cant believe it...

Hola!

I can't believe it has been so long since I have written in this blog. Needless to say I have been having a blast on the road. Let' see, since I last blogged I have celebrated my 24th birthday and most importantly welcoming my baby nephew, James into the world.

End of June we were in Iowa for an IndyCar Race then stopped through Omaha for the College World Series to root on Sergio's school South Carolina.
We were showing off the sunglasses we painted!

Indoor Skydiving at Universal City Walk in Los Angeles, CA. It was an awesome experience, kind of makes me want to do the real thing :)

JULY

While in Phoenix we got a day off to go tubing down the Salt River! Good thing it was hot out, because that water was chilly!!

X-Games: We were lucky enough to work at the X-Games in Los Angeles.

<-----We did a cool event in LA for the
Billabong Design For Humanity at Paramount Studios.

Lots of Changes throughout tour...

Sad Day: Erin, one of my partners left tour at the end of July. She was offered a job in our company's office back in Chicago, which is incredible awesome for her but sad for Sergio and I.

Our final Adventures with Erin were to San Diego, Yosemite National Park and Portland, Oregon to see yes, more Waterfalls!

We went Paddle boarding and to the San Diego Zoo:

 San Diego, CA

Yosemite National Park: in these pictures you will see me at Lower Yosemite Falls, Vernal Falls, and Half Dome. Vernal Falls was probably the steepest hike I think I will ever do in my life.

<----We now have our new partner, Tatiana who is amazing! She is from Tampa, Florida and is getting married in November of this year :) So sadly, we will be losing her beginning of November. It is still to be decided who will be replacing her for the remaining month of tour.

JULY 25, 2012 James William Trine was born!

                          Proud Auntie right here!

For my Birthday, my friends and co-workers made it one amazing weekend! My best friend Kara came to visit me in San Francisco, CA for the weekend. Kara and I hung out at the Fisherman's Wharf and visited the house from the T.V. Show 'Full House'Then, we traveled up to Lake Berryessa to spend a day on the lake to go wake boarding and tubing.

AUGUST
Left Oregon to see Baby James! I got spend 3 whole days with my week old nephew! I can't wait to get  home spend more time with him! Also, got to help celebrate one of my best friends wedding and see my best friends Michael and Stephanie.
Kavilan and Rachel McClain August 5th, 2012

Cool Events we did in August:
We worked at a venue called Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California where the singers Macy Gray and Seal performed. Shortly after we worked at he 49ers Training Camp in San Francisco for a day.

Next stop, LAS VEGAS:
We were lucky enough to meet up with two other street teams in Las Vegas. Where we celebrated Sergio's birthday, Melissa's birthday and celebrate Tatiana's Bachelorette party all in a few short days.

For those of you who do not know what I mean by "street team" There are 12 Verizon Wireless Street teams throughout the U.S. 3 of which are in each region. Being the the West coast, is one of the larger regions, it is rare to see any other team while traveling on the road. We were lucky just to see one other team, let alone 2. Needless to say we have a great time in Vegas that week!

After Las Vegas we did quite a bit of driving back and forth from Colorado to California. I think in 3 short weeks, we needed an oil change already. I think we drove about 5,000 miles in that short amount of time.

Landscape Arch

<----We got to stop at Arches National Park again with another team!

Whitewater Rafting down the Colorado River with the other teams!

It was a GREAT month to say the least...

Our 2nd to last IndyCar race was in the beautiful Sonoma, California. Sadly not much time to enjoy the beautiful area and the wineries. I was able to make a pit stop for my mother at a local winery called Envolve. Better known as Ben(from the Reality show "The Bachelor") winery. haha I was happy to stop snap some pictures and pick up some memorabilia for her.

SEPTEMBER

Started off amazing with a Music Festival in Snowmass Village, Colorado.
We were able to see Sugarland, Kid Rock, Mumford and Sons, Steve Miller Band, Michael Franti and Spearhead, and more. Our tent was set up to where we could see the Big Screen of all the performers, plus we were able to enjoy the last hour of the final show each night up close.

Snowmass Village, CO

To top off that amazing weekend, I got my hands on some MTV Video Music Award tickets at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Boy was that an awesome experience!

Video Music Awards in Los Angeles, CA

We stuck around the Los Angeles area to work at a couple more concerts like Luis Miguel, multiple Grammy winner of Latin music, Luis Miguel and The Dave Mathews Band in Irvine, CA. Seemed like we were on a role with cool events. That same week we did the X-Factor Premiere Party. No we didn't get to go inside, but it was still a cool experience to be a part of. Next was the final race for IndyCar, which was held in Fontana, CA. Boy was it a hot miserable weekend. We were happy to get away from there and back to Los Angeles. In Los Angeles we were able to be a part of an event called "How Sweet the Sound" which is a Gospel Choir competition Verizon puts on every year. They travel to about 10 cities to find the best Gospel Choir. Following, we drove up to San Diego for a College Football Game. It really made me miss my Southern Illinois Saluki's.

Biggest Adventure all year: HAVASUPAI FALLS

We took a Helicopter down to Havasupai Village(American Indian Tribe that has called the Grand Canyon its home for at least the past 800 years) then hiked 6 miles(total) to see three gorgeous waterfalls! Ending the trip with one amazing 8 mile hike through the Grand Canyon to the Hilltop! Talk about an accomplishment. Such an awesome journey that I recommend to everyone!

Last top in September, we made our way to Albuquerque, NM and Las Cruces, NM for a couple events, and to visit one of Sergio's friends.

OCTOBER

Glad we made it Phoenix, AZ again. I got to see my friend Dotson and play some human size Jenga again.

Crazy Fan Event: Kc-Con in Irvine, CA. K-Con is an event held every year for Korean Pop music fans. It is an assortment of bands that come to play at one venue. Needless to say there were thousands upon thousands of fans, making it a crazy day and night for us. Overall, it was a really fun event, with an energetic crowd.

Come on down, your'e the next contestant on THE PRICE IS RIGHT!!

Unfortunately, no one from our group got called down. But it was so fun to be a part of! you can catch our taping January 1st, 2013!!

Presently, we are in Seattle, WA where it is rainy, rainy, rainy, and cold. haha. Right before we came here we were in Walla Walla, Washington, what a name. We plan on being here in Seattle until the weekend then I believe we head back to California. It is crazy to think we only have 2 months left of tour. The other two teams that are in the west coast as well, are closing out their tour 2nd week of November. So it will just be our team to handle all the events in the west coast. We most likely will be doing primarily winter sporting events. I may face my fear and hit the slopes again, we shall see. I think I am going to try snowboarding instead of skiing though. Wish me Luck! Thanks reading!! Miss you all so Much!! Sending Love from Seattle,WA

Busy, Busy, Busy

Almost half way through tour....

Hot Springs in Glenwood Springs, CO
Hey Everyone! I am sorry it has been so long since I have blogged. We have been busy busy the past couple months. Let's see where have I been lately..

Glenwood Springs, Colorado; Hollywood/LA, California; Moab, Utah; Sequoia national Park, California;  Portland, Oregon; San Francisco, California; Denver, Colorado....
Wow! I am one lucky girl. I am truly blessed for this journey and all the amazing family and friends who have supported me along the way! So, Thank you!!

Above, you see a picture of the Hot Springs in Glenwood, CO. This place was so cool, it is a man-made hot spring with mineral water.

Tres leche Muffin and Horchata Latte
There is this little Coffee shop in Huntington  Park, CA near LA. It has thee best Tres Leche Muffin and Coffee Ever! So if you are ever in the area or see one, you definitely have to try it!
What is Tres Leche and Horchata? -is a sponge cake—in some recipes, a butter cake—soaked in three kinds of milkevaporated milkcondensed milk, and heavy cream
Horchata is basically a Cinnamon Milk Coffee. Yummm!

We climbed up 400 steps to get to the top.

Sequoia Trees are Enormous!

The two pictures to my left are at the Sequoia National Park in California. One of the most unique places we have been to so far. I never knew trees this big even existed, or that they grew to be so over 2,000 years old.

NFL Rookie Premiere at UCLA Campus
Kentucky Derby Party!

We were lucky enough to work the NFL Rookie Premiere at the UCLA Campus in May. Celebrities like Rudy, Mario, Jesse Palmer, Hall of Famer Warren Moon; former Super Bowl champions Roger Craig, Willie McGinest (USC), Terrell Davis, Steve Bono (UCLA) and Ryan Nece (UCLA) and more..

We were also able to work at Denver's Kentucky Derby Party, which is the 2nd largest Kentucky Derby party next to the actual Kentucky Derby. It was fun to see everyone dressed up in their "Derby" attire!

We saw Mt. Shasta in Oregon on our way to Crater Lake

Sergio's Surprise: On our drive to Portland, OR, Sergio surprised Erin and I with a visit to Crater Lake, OR. Crater Lake is 1,943 feet deep, which makes it the deepest lake in the United States, 9th deepest in the world. -Formed 7,700 years ago during the violent climactic eruptions and subsequent collapse of Mount Mazama and the relatively moist climate that is typical of the crest of the Cascade Range. Literally takes you breath away how beautiful and calm and blue the water is.

 Another Surprise...

Proxy Falls, Oregon

Little did when know...our real surprise were the Waterfalls in Oregon.
Including Proxy Falls and Sahalie Falls in Willamette National Forest.

Childhood Memories:
I was lucky enough to relive some more childhood memories from my families trip out west. Sergio, Erin and I stopped in Moab, Utah to see the Arches National Park. Again, a very beautiful place. I remember seeing picture of my Grandpa and I infront of the Balancing rock(as you see below, bottom left). We hiked 3 miles to see the Delicate Arch(bottom right). Wonderful Time!

Hollywood, California...
Sergio, Erin, and I spent a day being tourists in downtown Hollywood. We walked up and down Hollywood Boulevard. On that same day we got to see the operation of a movie premiere. We saw the red carpet premiere for "What to expect, when your'e Expecting" Celebrity citing includes: Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Matthew Morrison, and more.

Movie Premiere in Los Angeles, CA
Hollywood Boulevard
San Francisco... So much to do so little time. While we were there for a couple days we were able to see the Golden Gate Bridge and check out the famous Lombard street. We also got to see the famous Sea Lions that hang out around the pier.

Back to rockies... The Colorado Rockies that is :-) While in denver were able to attend a Colorado Rockies game. If I can't see my cubbies, at least I get to see A baseball game!

Colarado Rockies Game at Coors Field

Best activity of tour thus far... ATV Tour in Telluride, CO. We got to ride for two and half hours around the countryside of Colorado, talk about beautiful!

SOOOO Happy I got to come home to see my family, especially this man below, my Grandpa Trine who turned 90 years old June 12! And let's not forget my wonderful Grandma who turned 89 the week before. Although I was only home for a short time, it was well worth it to be with my all my family to celebrate his birthday.

2 month mark

Crazy to think I am already at the two month mark of this journey. Crazy to think of all the places I have already been  in these two short months. I am still loving the experience thus far, only negative is being away from family friends. I believe two months is the longest I have ever been away from home. :) But, I think I am finally starting to settle into this "gypsy" lifestyle...

After Colorado, our team and Sergio's brother Carlos headed to Las Vegas for a couple days. Carlos flew out to Colorado to help us with a few events as our temp staff. If you have not stayed in the Palms already, I definitely recommend it. We spent our days by the pool relaxing and by night looking at one of the best views of the strip on the top of a Ghostbar Nightclub(as you see below)
Las Vegas, NV

After spending 2 weeks with Sergio's brother, Carlos in Colorado, we sadly had to say good-bye to him in Las Vegas. Our next adventure started in Long Beach, California where we worked a IndyCar race. Although I did not get to see much of the race, it was super fun to be at the event all weekend. We will be working a couple more races in California in the future, including the championship race in Fontana, CA I believe. An added bonus to the weekend was that our sponsored Driver for Verizon Wireless,Will Power won the race on Sunday!
Me and Will Power's cut out

After the race that weekend, we got to enjoy Venice Beach and Hermosa Beach. Sergio and Erin went rollerblading on the boardwalk and I rented a bike!!

One of the coolest places we went while in California was to the Los Angeles Observatory, where you can get a good view of the Hollywood sign. We got there just in time for the sunset as well, so so pretty!

I was so happy that we were able to go back to Sedona, Arizona and visit Slide Rock Park. Last time we were driving through, the Park was closed. I was able to re-live my childhood and slide down the rocks again!  Below you can see a NOW & THEN Collage...

While we were in Arizona, we worked a PRIDE Parade and Festival. I was happy to have my friend David Dotson work with us this weekend. David went to Southern Illinois University Carbondale with me and now lives in Phoenix, Arizona. He also took us out to a cool bar that had life size Jenga then another with life size Connect Four!

Portland, Oregon...
I have been very excited to visit Portland because I have heard so many good things about it. Unfortunately we didn't have the best weather while we were there, so we are definitely coming back.

Here are some of our Highlights:

Eat Mobile event we worked, where we got to eat free food from all the food trucks, best job ever!!

Voodoo Donuts is very popular in this area, and I now I can see why!

Photo Compliments of Erin

We happened to venture off the highway and found this beautiful spot in Oregon.
